Lanare Community Center Renovation Underway!
Lanare Community Center Renovation Underway!
Posted on December 30, 2024
We’re excited to share that construction is officially underway for the much-anticipated renovation of the Lanare Community Center! The project, which began on December 9, 2024, is a significant step toward revitalizing this vital hub for Lanare and the surrounding areas.
Thanks to a $1.6 million investment from Fresno County’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, the community center will undergo extensive upgrades, including new windows, updated kitchen appliances, an HVAC system, and an open ceiling concept to enhance the space. The renovation will also add a new roll-up door for easy access during food distribution and events and improve accessibility with an ADA travel path.
“Lanare would like to thank Fresno County for awarding our community the ARPA funds for this construction project to be able to happen. The community is grateful to see a new building that will bring strength to the community as we continue to move forward,” said Danielle Roberts, President of Lanare Community Services District.
This renovation will not only modernize the center but will also expand its capacity to host important community events, food distributions, and other services that benefit over 500 residents. The Lanare Community Center has long been a gathering place for the community, especially during emergencies like the pandemic, and these upgrades will ensure it continues to serve as a welcoming space for years to come.
“As a group, we serve the Lanare community and the four cardinal points through three food distributions a month and three events a year. These funds are a great achievement because they will help continue educating, serving, and uniting the community,” said Isabel Solorio, President of Community United in Lanare.
Self-Help Enterprises is proud to be part of this transformative project alongside the Lanare Community Services District (LCSD), Community United in Lanare (CUL), the Leadership Counsel for Justice and Accountability (LCJA), and other community partners. The renovation is expected to be completed by April 2025.
