Supporting Families through Emergency Services

Posted on October 1, 2024

For 60 years, Self-Help Enterprises (SHE) has been dedicated to uplifting and empowering the communities of the San Joaquin Valley. As the region faces increasing challenges from drought, water scarcity, and other natural disasters, SHE’s Emergency Services program has become a crucial resource for residents in need. Beginning with water well testing and emergency water provision during the 2014 drought, SHE’s Emergency Services program has grown into a comprehensive initiative focused on water sustainability, water quality, disaster preparedness, and climate resiliency.

SHE’s Emergency Services first addressed the Valley’s water crisis by providing temporary water solutions, including water deliveries and the installation of water storage tanks for households with dry wells. This effort has ensured that families in rural areas have access to clean water while working toward longer-term solutions, such as domestic well repair, replacement, or permanent connections to public water systems. Families needing immediate assistance with drinking water can also rely on SHE for bottled water delivery as a short-term solution while they work toward a sustainable water source. If you’re in need of bottled water, contact our team for support.

In addition to water access, SHE’s Water Quality program plays a key role in maintaining the health and safety of residents. Through domestic well assessments and water testing, our team ensures that households are informed about the quality of their drinking water. If contaminants are found, SHE works with licensed vendors to install water filtration systems that provide clean, safe drinking water. If you need a well assessment, visit our website to fill out a short 6-question eligibility form—an easy first step toward evaluating your water quality and addressing any concerns.

SHE’s commitment to the community goes beyond water services. Our Emergency Preparedness and Resiliency program educates residents about the risks posed by natural disasters like floods, fires, and earthquakes. Through multilingual guides and practical tools, we help families create disaster plans and prepare for unexpected emergencies. By equipping residents with critical information and resources, SHE empowers them to protect their homes and loved ones in times of crisis.

Together, we’re building stronger, more resilient communities. #SHE60YearsStrong
