Field Project Tech 2 $19.22 – $25.76 hourly

Our Emergency Services Department has an opening for a Field Project Tech in their Tank Water program.
As the Emergency Services Field Project Tech, you will serve as a “Well Inspector.” You will work closely with families who reside in highly diverse and disadvantaged communities throughout the San Joaquin Valley, whose domestic water wells have become inoperable. A field technician visits the participants’ homes and confirms if their well is dry or inoperable, collects necessary documentation regarding the property and home, determines if a temporary water storage tank system is needed, selects the best location and placement for the tank system on the participant property, and prepares a detailed report.
Responsibilities
- Assists with coordination of special events as needed.
- Inspect and assess participants’ domestic well sites to determine the causation of the water outage.
- Collect necessary documentation from participants for approval or denial of services.
- Assess the participant’s property for temporary water storage tanks and pump systems placement.
- Conduct tank system inspections and assess functionality and proper maintenance of the tank system.
- Prepare a detailed report following all assessments and inspections and submit it for review.
- Assist in both emergency and non-emergency water deliveries.
- Assist outside agencies upon request within the guidelines and functions of SHE Emergency Services.
- Drive extensive distances within the SHE service area from Kern County to San Joaquin County daily.
In addition, for Field Project Tech 2
- Conducts unscheduled non-emergency water deliveries to unincorporated areas.
In addition, for Field Project Tech 3
- Perform minor maintenance and repair to tank systems.
- Coordinate and logistically assist with emergency and non-emergency water deliveries.
- Maintain storage unit organization and cleanliness.
Must Haves
- One year certificate from college or technical school or three to six months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or SHE employees.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Strong Computer Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Strong Communication Skills.
- Self-starters
- Willingness to travel throughout SHE's service area.
- Knowledge of and experience working with septic systems is desired.
- Working knowledge in ArcView GIS and/or Microsoft Power BI is desired.
In addition, for Field Project Tech 2
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
In addition, for Field Project Tech 3
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university, or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
