An announcement was made for the beginning of construction of a Self-Help Enterprises project for
affordable homes in Southwest Fresno, Tuesday morning, Jan. 25, 2022, at Annadale and Ivy
avenues, the first of two locations.
More than 20 affordable single-family homes are set to be built on what was once a homeless
encampment across from southwest Fresno elementary and middle schools. Self Help Enterprises is
currently laying the framework for the development – 22 three- and four-bedroom homes on Ivy and
East Annadale avenues, just across from West Fresno Middle and West Fresno Elementary schools.
Construction is set to begin around September and should be completed by the end of 2023,
according to Tom Collishaw, president and CEO of Self Help Enterprises.
“Councilmember Greg Collins agreed those who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless would greatly benefit from additional services but many people aren’t in need of supportive services, they are simply being priced out of the rental market. He suggested putting a priority on affordable housing developers, such as Self Help Enterprises, which include community rooms in their projects where they can offer services to tenants.” – Reggie Ellis – Publisher and CEO of The Sun-Gazette
Sugar Pine Village in Madera is finally ready to welcome low-income renters just in time for the holidays. The $25 million project is a partnership between Self-Help Enterprises, Madera County, the state and private investors, among others.
Development partners and community leaders gathered at Sugar Pine Village (203 E. Lewis St.) for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a tour of the new 52-unit facility.
