High-cost housing is a significant problem in rural areas of California, with a high percentage of residents spending well over 30% of their incomes toward housing costs. SHE staff are seeing high-cost housing issues in the San Joaquin Valley.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held in West Goshen for a project to lay a water main from Goshen. Self-Help Enterprises, along with the West Goshen Mutual Water Board, applied for a state grant to bring drinking water to the community.
West Goshen is connecting to California Water Services Company’s water in Goshen for a reliable water source. The first phase of the project will include a single-water meter that will read how much water is being used by the whole neighborhood.
